e-LIS: Tech Focus - Social Annotation with Google Docs
Facilitator: Danielle Nicholson
Location: Online
Date/Time: Tue, August 15, 2023, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Description: Social annotation allows students to read a text and write their thoughts, questions, and comments directly on the text, all together in one digital space! There are some great tools out there for this, like Hypothes.is, but in this workshop, we're going to focus on one you may already be familiar with - Google Docs. Since both you and your students already have an OU Google account, it's quick and easy to set up a social annotation activity with Google Docs. In this workshop, we'll cover how to create and share a Doc, how to paste and format text for students to review, and how to use Google features like comments and chat to facilitate conversations both synchronously and asynchronously. Space is limited, so sign up today!
