Lunch Bytes--Teaching with Technology

Description: Join e-LIS for lunch and an informal discussion about using technology in your online or partially online course. Monthly featured faculty facilitators will share interesting techniques they are using in their courses. There will also be time for you to ask questions. e-LIS will provide coffee and dessert. Engaging Syllabus Design: Christina Moore from the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning will discuss a syllabus she redesigned to increase engagement, including an introductory message with links to most-consulted sections, welcoming tone, condensed policy language, simple visuals, and other content and format improvements.

Moodle Winter Institute

Description: The Moodle Winter Institute is a three day, hands-on workshop series that will provide beginning and immediate Moodle users with all of the necessary skills and tools to help you build Moodle courses and develop online content. Attendees will learn the basics of using Moodle for online, blended, or face-to-face courses. There will be in-depth exploration on how to use the various activities and features in Moodle, such as quizzes, discussion forums, assignments, and gradebook. We will provide insight on the best practices behind online course creation and content delivery.

Lunch will be provided starting at 11:30 am.

Start Recording Lectures Today!

Description: Do you want to record over Powerpoint? Do you want to post your video lectures to Moodle? Do you have no idea where to start? This workshop is for you! This session will introduce you to video recording technologies for face-to-face and online classroom environments.

The following technologies will be introduced and demonstrated:

Recording face-to-face lectures via Panopto lecture capture system

Live online classrooms via WebEx with recording options and live classroom online strategies

Video lectures and tutorial recording using Camtasia and its video editing features

The differences between these systems will be discussed, allowing you to make an educated decision as to what option best fits your particular course's needs.

Lunch will be provided to participants at 11:30.
