e-LIS: Best Practices - Backwards Course Design

Description: In this workshop, we will cover Backward Course Design, a model in which instructors identify their course's learning goals first, then build their content and activities around those goals. It can be tempting to share every interesting resource on a topic with your students, but information overload can hinder their learning. Instead, Backward Course Design aligns your learning outcomes and course material, and this intentional method of course design increases student engagement and understanding. After this workshop, you will understand why Backward Course Design is important, how it can help your students, and how you can get started using it to plan and structure your courses more effectively.
