How to Use OakShare: Frequently Asked Questions—Your OakShare Account
I received an error message when I attempted to log into my OakShare account; why may I not log into my OakShare account?
You might not be eligible for a OakShare account. Students, faculty, staff, and departments normally have OakShare accounts. Student accounts expire one year after the student leaves Oakland University. Faculty and staff accounts expire one day after the faculty and staff leave Oakland University. Departmental accounts never expire. Contact the Oakland University University Technology Services (OU UTS) Help Desk for assistance.
I want to access a file via a link. I am logged into OakShare; do I need first to log out of OakShare?
No, you can still access the file (and edit that file, assuming that you have been given the proper permission), if you are already logged into OakShare.
I want to access a file via a ticket. I am logged into OakShare; do I first need to log out in order to access the file?
Yes, you will need to have first logged out of your OakShare session before you can view the file.
My OakShare session ended, but I did not log off; what happened?
OakShare will time out (log you out automatically) after 15 minutes, if you have not done anything in OakShare within that time. This is a security feature to ensure that no one can access your OakShare account, if it appears you have left your computer.
