There are four basic forms of financial aid: scholarships, grants, loans or employer assistance (work study.) A student may qualify for more than one type of financial aid, but the total received cannot exceed the maximum amount determined by the financial aid application. To apply for financial aid, a student must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)-available from Macomb Community College's Financial Aid Office, as well as the financial aid office at Oakland University. For more information, visit the Oakland University Financial Aid Web Site. When filling out the form, be sure to indicate that copies are to be sent to Oakland University. Transfer students who have already applied for financial aid should request that their financial aid transcripts be sent to Oakland University, even if they have previously been turned down for financial aid. In addition to state and federal financial aid, institutional scholarships are also available from Oakland University. Some of these scholarships are specifically for students transferring from a community college. Financial aid recipients are often required to take a minimum number of credits each semester to retain their eligibility. All forms of financial aid are contingent upon continued academic progress toward a degree. |
