Student Services

Students who take classes at Macomb University Center will find it a student-friendly environment. Listed below is important information about services available to OU students at Macomb.

Parking:

There is no charge for parking at the university center. The parking lot is adjacent to the UC1 and UC2 buildings. During the day, most students are able to park right outside the door of their classroom building.

Student ID Card:

OU students use their Oakland ID. A “University Center” sticker can be affixed to the back of the OU card in order to use the MCC Library or the UC computer labs. Stickers can be obtained from the UC Advisor in room 202B, or her assistant in room 202P of the UC1 building.

Library use:

OU students with the “university center” sticker on their ID are welcome to use the MCC Library in Building C of adjacent Macomb Community College. Also adjacent to the Macomb University Center is the Macomb Intermediate School District, knows as the “ISD”, which also hosts a library available for use.

Computers:

Computers are located on the first floor of the UC2 building.

Student Copier:

A copier is available in room 125 UC1 for student use. Pay-per-copy

Student Lounge:

Two lounges are available for use by OU students. One is located on the first floor of the UC1 building near the entrance. The other is located near the south entrance of the UC2 building. Both have vending machines and microwaves for student use.

Study Rooms:

There are nicely furnished study areas available in both buildings. Weather permitting, there are also outdoor seating areas available.

Textbooks:

OU students should check with the faculty member teaching their course to determine if a textbook is needed and where it can be purchased. Some faculty use the main campus bookstore and others recommend purchasing books on line.

Escort Service:

The Department of Public Safety provides escort service from the UC buildings to cars after dark and will deliver emergency messages to the classrooms. Emergencies: Call Public Safety (586) 286-2123.

Weather Emergencies:

If either O.U. or M.C.C. Center Campus is closed, classes are cancelled at MUC. For OU school closings, call the OU Hotline (248) 370-2000 For MCC school closings, call (586) 286-2123 OR listen to major radio or television stations for announcements. If it is not announced, students should assume that classes are being held as scheduled.
