Admission to Clinical Specialization Internship

To be accepted in a clinical specialization internship, students must submit a formal application for each clinical program for which they seek consideration (see appropriate sections for each). Applications for the cytotechnology, histotechnology and radiation therapy internship programs are processed in the winter semester (typically of the sophomore year, or following completion of the MLS core curriculum). Applications for nuclear medicine internships are processed fall (for the Nuclear Medicine Institute) or winter (for William Beaumont Hospital) semester of the junior year. Applications for the clinical laboratory science/medical technology internships are processed during the spring/summer prior to the senior year. It is recommended that students have a 3.00 overall GPA. Although some internship programs indicate a lower minimum GPA for application, the competitiveness of the application process results in a lower acceptance rate for students with < 3.00 GPA.
