Courses Taught RDG 331: Teaching of Reading.
Basic course in the teaching of reading in the elementary and middle grades. Content includes strategies for teaching comprehension, phonics, emerging literacy, methods of reading instruction, and other pertinent issues. Includes a required field experience.
IST 396: Educational Uses of Microcomputers and Related Technologies.
Basic microcomputer literacy course. Focuses on educational applications. Prepares students to use microcomputers and related technologies for career and personal goals.
IST 594: Introduction to Technology Applications in the Classroom.
Introduction to the integration of audio, video, computing and telecommunications technologies in classroom teaching. A theoretical and practical foundation for the instructional use of integrated technologies is provided.
IST 595: Instructional Systems Technology Applications.
A practical examination of the applications software and telecommunications technologies. Emphasis is on using technology to support classroom teaching and learning experiences with a focus on assessing, comprehending and communicating information. Students acquire proficiency in the use of these instructional tools.
IST 630: Workshop in Educational Software and Related Technologies.
Emphasizes the examination of current software and the development of materials, resources and processes for incorporating software into various curriculum areas with an emphasis on cross-curricular, multicultural and whole language issues. Includes workshops in digital literacy, comprehension issues related to hypermedia navigation and other topics.
IST 679: Educational Software Design.
A practical examination of the applications software and telecommunications technologies. Emphasis is on using technology to support classroom teaching and learning experiences with a focus on assessing, comprehending and communicating information. Students acquire proficiency in the use of these instructional tools.
IST 699: Terminal Project.
A project which incorporate the skills and principles covered in IST 594, 595, and 679. Students design, carry out and evaluate a comprehensive technology related learning experience.
