SEHS - Field Services Placement
This office is responsible for identifying and assigning all field placements for students enrolled in the on-campus elementary, secondary and music education programs. Included in this are student teaching placements which require daily attendance in the field during the entire placement for both elementary and secondary education majors, leading to Michigan initial teacher certification.

All placements are arranged and assigned to ensure a variety of experiences, grade levels, content areas, and include urban and suburban experiences. Keep in mind, any student requesting placement in a middle school for student teaching must have two subject area endorsements.

For elementary majors, participation in field placements is required during EED 310 and each semester during which students enroll in a professional education class. In the secondary education program SED 300, FE 345 and SED 455 require field experiences in the public schools. Prior or current full- or part-time teaching will not satisfy this requirement.

In addition to taking care of field placements, this office handles:

  • Program applications for OU STEP
  • Internship applications for Elementary, OU STEP and Music
  • Education Petitions of exception
  • Field paperwork
  • New Zealand Student Teacher Exchange Program guest student teachers
  • Web links/resources for teachers
  • Education seminars for students participating in the programs
  • Orientation meetings

All information regarding field and student teaching requirements, scheduled seminars and applications will be accessed through connecting to the elementary or secondary link provided.
