TRAVEL FROM DETROIT METRO (DTW) TO THE CONFERENCE HOTEL
Unfortunately, transportation from Detroit Metro Airport to the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester is a bit inconvenient and costly, on average $75-100 one way. However, we have arranged a shuttle service for conference participants. Shuttle buses will run from the airport to the Royal Park every two hours on Thursday afternoon and every hour most of the day on Friday. In addition, buses will also be available to return you to the airport on Sunday morning-- one early, one mid-morning, and one following the final conference session.
The cost for the shuttle service is $30, and is payable with your conference registration, on the registration page. Please note that even taking the shuttle one-way---whether for your arrival or your return-- marks a considerable savings over a taxi cab or other individually-arranged transportation options. Within the next month we will be sending our an email to those who pay for the shuttle, asking what your arrival and/or departure times will be, so that we can reasonably schedule the shuttle buses.
In addition, our shuttle provider, Metro Cars, also has sedans available for those who wish to arrange private transportation. The cost is around $100 one way. However, this cost can be shared. We will have a Ride Board at the conference to help match people wanting to share a private car and hope to establish a bulletin board on this website. We also hope to arrange a discounted rate with other transporters for those making individual arrangements. Please check back here for updated information.
