Welcome to the Political Science Department website at Oakland University. The department has over 350 majors in its three undergraduate degree programs: the BA in Political Science, the BS in Public Administration and Public Policy; and our newest program, the BA in International Relations. We also have 70 students in the MPA program, the largest graduate program in the College of Arts and Sciences. We have 14 full time faculty whose specialties cover the spectrum of political science fields: American government and politics, comparative politics, international politics and public administration. The part time faculty consists of judges, city managers, and administrators of non-profit organizations who lend real-life experiences and expertise to the courses they teach.
The strength of this department lies in its ability to emphasize teaching while at the same time encouraging faculty to engage in research and public service activities. The Public Affairs Research Laboratory (PARL), affiliated with the department, provides services to local governments and municipalities as well as research opportunities for our students.
