The Summer of Sue 4

As we say good bye to summer 2004, we remember our friend, Sue Rustoni, and the fantastic summer she was enjoying in 2001, full of adventure, accomplishments, and friendships. Those are the summers that we all should strive to live.

Each year, we mark the change of seasons with a ride through the vanishing farmland of Oakland and Addison Townships, on a route that Sue frequently rode.

This ride is free of charge, but we will be collecting a group donation to a worthy organization to be made in Sue's name. The 2003 Summer of Sue Donation was warmly received by a very grateful Camp Timbers located in West Branch which Sue attended as a youth.

Those of us who knew Sue will have her on our minds this day. For those who didn't have the privilege of knowing Sue, we encourage you to use this ride as a time to reflect on your summer, spend some time with friends, and set the tone for a great Autumn and Winter.

The ride begins in the Rochester Municipal Park. We then go north on the Paint Creek Trail to the Paint Creek Cider Mill in Goodison (3 miles). We stop at the Cider Mill to say hello to the Rustoni family and to fuel up for the rest of the ride.

From here, you have three options:

  1. Return to Rochester. Round trip: 6 miles. Flat as an ice rink.
  2. Ride the Orange Loop. Total miles: 15. Some hills. Nothing too bad.
  3. Ride the Pink Loop. Total miles: 24. One huge hill. Several rollers.
