Letter from
the President
Dear
Sigma Theta Tau, Theta Si Chapter, Community
I
am pleased to introduce myself as the new President of the Theta Si
Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and I am truly excited about my new role.
The bar has been set at a high level by my predecessor, Cheryl
Riley-Doucet RN, PhD and I hope to carry forward by adding a new
perspective. We have tremendous momentum and will continue building
on that momentum throughout the year.
Oakland
University’s Theta Psi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International has
a proud tradition of supporting its members to develop themselves
professionally through education, leadership, career development,
evidenced-based practice, research and scholarship. Along with all of
you, I look forward to continuing and building upon that tradition.
On
behalf of myself and all of the members of the board, I would like to
say that we are eager to get to know you, to help support you in your
professional endeavors, and work toward the mission of the Honor
Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International. Please
make sure to keep active by renewing your membership at
www.nursingsociety.org.
Furthermore, remember that as Theta
Psi
members you can nominate nurses working in the community who have
contributed to our profession in some special way for community
membership.
I invite
and encourage you as a member of the Theta Si Chapter of Sigma Theta
Tau to return to campus throughout the coming year and attend the
events sponsored by the chapter. These events will support networking
with nurses in the community as well as enhance your nursing career
through educational and service opportunities. There are many great
opportunities scheduled that will allow you to visit with fellow
members. To view these upcoming events, please refer to the calendar
of events page on our website.
Please
feel free to personally contact me at pittigli@oakland.edu
if you
have any questions. I look forward to seeing many of you back on
campus in the upcoming year.
On
Behalf of the Board,
Laura
Pittiglio, RN, PhD
President,
Theta Si Chapter
