The Health Disparities Conference:Bridging Research and Practice, focused on completed research and implemented projects that have investigated issues of health disparities for communities of color.

Dr. LaVeist spoke out to help fight health disparities in minorities and to encourage nurses and health care professionals to focus on ensuring equal diagnosis and treatment options. Because of factors like low income levels, language barriers and cultural misunderstandings, LaVeist has found health disparities for minorities escalating.
