Effective nursing care delivery in today's dynamic health care environment requires practitioners who possess strong skills in critical thinking, clinical practice, and leadership.

The United States faces a crisis in health care. An estimated 125,000 nursing positions are vacant nationwide, and that number is projected to rise to 1,000,000 in the next decade. Fewer nurses will result in fewer care options and a lower quality of service. The School of Nursing is taking steps to aggressively address this problem. In partnership with local health care agencies we actively recruit students into our programs. Applications and admissions have risen significantly, but much more can be done to ease the current and future nursing shortage. The development of scholarships and distinctive programs will serve as important catalysts for future growth, and will be important incentives in attracting, retaining and graduating students into the ranks of professional nursing.
