Letter from the Director

Oakland University’s vision is to provide students with cultural and social experiences to prepare them to be effective contributors and leaders in tomorrow’s workplace and society. One way Oakland achieves this is by offering extensive and innovative international education programs. Study-abroad programs give students the opportunity to live, study or work side-by-side in communities throughout the world.

When students broaden their horizons and become more familiar with the customs and cultures of other countries, they better realize their place in the global society. The result is intellectual, cultural and professional enrichment.

Candidates for OU’s study-abroad program are students who are open-minded, flexible, positive, optimistic, patient, outgoing, and receptive to new ideas, foods and levels of comfort. From foreign language and art to business and engineering, OU offers a variety of options for all educational interests.

The International Education Web site is filled with details about our programs, including exchange programs with Oakland University, and partnership programs through AHA International. Take a few moments to explore the countries, universities, academic programs and eligibility. A world of opportunity awaits you!
