Types of Programs

AHA and OU Sponsored
All international education programs provide students the opportunity to study at a foreign university and earn credits for their Oakland degree program. Students who study abroad through the AHA International program pay tuition and fees to the host university. Students participating in the Oakland exchange program pay tuition and fees to OU.

Study Abroad Through AHA
Oakland University is part of the Midwest Consortium for Study Abroad (MCSA), 11 colleges and universities throughout Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia, sponsoring study-abroad programs through AHA International.

AHA International is an academic program of the University of Oregon, providing educational opportunities for students. For more information, visit the AHA International Web site.

Oakland University Exchange Programs
Academic departments throughout Oakland University offer exchange programs. Through these programs, students pay tuition and fees to Oakland University. An equal number of foreign students will study at Oakland through the program.

Oakland programs include:

• China (Beijing)
• France (Orleans)
• Japan (Nanzan)
• Malta (University of Malta)
• New Zealand (Dunedin)

For AHA International programs, please check the AHA site for the most recent refund information.

For OU programs, click on the specific program for complete details.

Financial Aid & Scholarships:

OU students can apply for Rhodes Scholarships, Marshall Scholarships and Fulbright Grants to assist with tuition and travel expenses associated with studying abroad. Financial aid for international education is also available.

Students may also apply for the International Rotary Scholarship.

• Two confidential reference forms (downloadable from the application)
• Two essays (essay questions are found at the end of the on-line application)
