Honors College Scholarships

The Honors College offers a selection of scholarships to enhance students' educational experiences. To be considered for an Honors College scholarship, please complete the application form. Applications are available in our office, 112 Vandenberg Hall or online.

In awarding scholarships, special preference will be given to students living in the Residential College.

COS Award
COS Award covers full tuition, room and board and a $250/semester book allowance for the freshman year. Applicants must have entering freshman status at OU and The Honors College, a minimum 3.8 GPA, ACT of at least 31, must demonstrate leadership, and, if selected, must reside in the residence hall designated for Honors College students.

Credit Union One Scholarships
CO Award applicants must have entering freshman status at OU and The Honors College, a minimum 3.5 GPA, ACT of at least 25, and demonstrate leadership.

Handleman Scholarship
These $4,000 scholarships are available to Honors College students who demonstrate financial need, are leaders on campus or in the community and show academic promise. The Handleman is awarded to students in good standing in The Honors College who have a minimum 3.5 GPA. These scholarships are renewable for up to 5 years for students who remain in good standing and reapply each year. Open to Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior students.

Honors College Alumni Affiliate Scholarship
This $1,000 per semester scholarship is available for up to two semesters. It is open to juniors and seniors who have completed at least 59 credits and who are enrolled in the Honors College. Recipients must maintain 3.0 overall GPA and be full time students.

Honors College Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to current Honors College juniors and seniors. It is based on demonstrated need, academic achievement and continued membership in the Honors College. Awards range from $500 to $2,000. The scholarship application is available on the Honors College Web site.

J. Alfred Jones Memorial Scholarship
This $1,000-$2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student entering the Honors College. Applicants must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average and a composite score of 25 or above on the ACT exam.

Post Baccalaureate Fellowships

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships
For full time sophomores and juniors who plan to pursue a career in Mathematics, the Natural Sciences or Engineering

Fulbright Grants
For graduating seniors, recent graduates and graduate students who are planning on studying, teaching or doing research abroad

George Mitchell Scholarships
For graduating seniors who who wish to pursue graduate study in Ireland or Northern Ireland

Harry Truman Scholarships
For full time junior level students who wish to pursue a graduate degree in a public service field.

James Madison Fellowships
Graduating Seniors and Secondary School Teachers Of American History, American Government, or Social Studies (At the Secondary School Level)

Kent Cooke Scholarships
For college seniors or recent graduates to attend graduate or professional programs, focusing on outstanding individuals with financial need.

Marshall Scholarships
For graduating seniors who wish to pursue their graduate studies in the United Kingdom.

Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships
For resident aliens, naturalized citizens, or the child of two parents who are both naturalized citizens, wishing to pursue a degree in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences, including the Fine and Performing Arts.

Rhodes Scholarship
Graduating Seniors wishing to pursue a degree from Oxford University in the United Kingdom

Financial Aid

Oakland University works to help students from all financial backgrounds attend OU by awarding financial assistance based on achievement and financial need and by offering advice on other financing options.
