HC 100 CELL GROUP LEADERS

2008-2009

Kendra Seitz

Marta Bauer

Hi! I’m Marta Bauer, sophomore and recently declared English major. I think I’d like to be an editor because I’m neurotic enough to enjoy looking over those 10 page research papers you will all learn to love. You’ll probably be seeing me around the HC a lot, because on top of being an HC100 group leader I am heading up the Campus Relations committee for the HCSA and work as Editor for Alpha Lambda Delta. I’ll also be working for the Athletic Event Staff this fall. My interests include the Detroit Tigers (I’ll be talking about baseball nonstop until October. Apologies in advance), smoothies (I know more about fruit flavor combinations than any sane person should), Jane Austen film adaptations, trying something new, and doing anything where I get to spend time with my friends. I look forward to meeting you all when school starts up!
David Beattie

"My name is David Beattie and I will be a senior this upcoming year in The Honors College. I am a Biology major looking to become a psychiatrist. I'm a huge hockey fan and love/collect music as well. I am very excited to be working with new students at Oakland and look forward to meeting you all."

Renee Blackburn

Bonjour tout le monde! My name is Renée Blackburn. I am a senior majoring in Anthropology, with a minor in French Language and Literature. In the past, I've been involved in a variety of campus clubs, including the French Club, Anthropology Club, and Student Congress. I also work on campus in the Writing Center helping my fellow peers make their papers wonderful. When I'm not busy with classes and work, I enjoy reading, walking and, of course, mindlessly watching tv shows like America's Next Top Model and Lost.

Elyse Hyde

"Hello! My name is Elyse and I am a senior studying General Management. I am a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity. In my spare time, I enjoy reading classics, watching suspense movies, and solving puzzles. I also have a deep love for writing and will, eventually, finish writing my book. I look forward to seeing you in the fall!"

Nina Lavelanet

Hello everyone! My name is Nina, and I love having fun, helping people and learning/trying new things. My newest love is editing pictures; and this summer I plan to take more pictures and learn how to play guitar. :) Outside of that, I am a communication major, thinking about doing event planning, public relations or advertising.

Steve Parker

Hi, my name is Steve Parker and I am currently a junior studying Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry at Oakland University. In past years, much of my time while in school has been spent working with fellow students on various extra-curricular projects, the Beyond Basics reading program, and Academic Skills Center as a supplemental instruction leader. When not busy with school or work, you can most likely find me on one of Oakland’s golf courses, with the Formula SAE team at Oakland University or working on a Volkswagen.

Corey Schmidt

My name is Corey Schmidt, and I am a junior majoring in Public Administration. I am also pursuing a Concentration in Urban Studies. I am interested in a lot of different things such as music, movies, golfing, sports, and reading. Most of my time is spent learning, enjoying life with friends, and working as a Resident Assistant and an Admissions Ambassador on campus. I am very eager to begin to work with all the new HC students this year. It will be a blast to get to know you all.

Colin Olexa

Hey guys, I'm Colin. I'm going into my junior year here at OU, though I'm still not sure what I want to study. Here's a little bit about me, in case you're curious. My interests include writing, meeting new people, having adventures, going to concerts and movies, and going to new places. I also play on OU's dodgeball team (yes, we do have a dodgeball team, feel free to join). Some of my favorite bands are Page France, Stars, Mew, Copeland, and Anberlin. As far as TV goes, I'm a big fan of The Office. I like to think that I'm a pretty laid-back kind of guy and easy to get along with. I'm really looking forward to meeting and hanging out with all of you.

Candice Yono

Hello! My name is Candice and I am sophomore. I am currently registered as a History major but I would also like to major in English and minor in French. As for my future career, I’m still waiting for the job fairy to grace me with a brilliant idea. I enjoy reading, particularly fantasy and the classics. I love spending time with my family—grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and the whole merry troupe. I look forward to meeting all of you in the fall!
