Admissions The Honors College welcomes any student with an excellent academic record. This includes first-year students (high school applicants), transfer students and current Oakland students. The Honors College attracts students from all majors, 90 percent of whom are recruited through admissions. The remaining ten percent learn about The Honors College at orientation. Students with a 3.5 grade point average and a score of 25 or better on the ACT qualify for admission to the program. Qualifying students must either submit a short essay or ask for an interview with the director. Students who don’t meet the above criteria can fill out an application and request a personal interview with The Honors College director. During the interview, the director looks for a willingness to pursue academic excellence, leadership and industriousness.
Orientation Students admitted to The Honors College or those interested in the program are encouraged to attend one of the Honor's College summer orientation sessions. HC orientations are held on the second day of OU "overnight" orientations from 12:00-3:00. If you cannot fit an overnight orientation into your schedule, please call us (248-370-4450) and let us know which HC orientation you would like to attend. The Honors College orientation dates for 2007 are:
