(HCSA) Honors College Student Association
The Honors College regularly hosts a variety of programs and events, such as:
Colloquia
Every semester, Honors College students are involved in the formal discussion of such topics as Affirmative Action, Reparations for Slavery, the Israeli-Palestinian Crisis, Children and Crime, Suburban Sprawl and the Ecology, DNA Art, Women in the Islamic World, Hate Crime Laws, Public Transportation, The Roots of Jazz and The Roots of Rap.
Honors College Research and Scholarship Day
Every fall and winter semester, The Honors College sponsors an event featuring representative samples of the best student research conducted in Honors College courses during the semester to allow students to share their broad range of research findings with the larger Honors College and university community to stimulate intellectual conversation and energize students to assume the responsible role of generating new information. An added goal is to foster curiosity, community, collaboration, and confidence.
Music, Arts and Lecture Series
Honors College students are strongly encouraged to attend music, arts and lecture series held at the university, Meadow Brook Gallery, Meadow Brook Theatre, the DIA, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Hall, the Fox Theater, the Museum of African-American History, the Hillbery and Stratford. Honors College students are advised to experience the variety of co-curricular opportunities available at Oakland University and in the Metro-Detroit/Greater Toronto area.
