Freshman Admission Criteria

In order to be accepted to The Honors College, high school seniors must first apply and be accepted by Oakland University.

The Honors College accepts students who have a minimum 3.5 GPA and a 25 on the ACT and who have either interviewed with the Director or written an essay stating why the student wishes to be a member of The Honors College. Students who do not meet the above criteria can still be accepted into The Honors College by requesting a personal interview with The Honors College Director or completing an online application. During the interview, the Director looks for a willingness to pursue academic excellence, leadership and industriousness.

Oakland accepts students into The Honors College throughout the year.

Freshman Not Meeting the Minimum Requirements

If your GPA and/or ACT is slightly lower than the above requirements, you may can still apply for admission to The Honors College by filling out an online application.
