Graduate Student Resources
The Council of Graduate Schools is an organization of institutions of higher education in the United States, Canada, and across the globe engaged in graduate education, research scholarship, and the preparation of candidates for advanced degrees. This site provides various resources for graduate students. NAGPS is the acronym for the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students. We are the umbrella group for over two million graduate and professional students currently studying in the United States. H-Grad is an electronic network for graduate students around the world, operating under the banner of the H-Net family of on-line discussion groups. The mission of the H-Grad e-mail list is to provide a discussion forum for the open and frank exchange of ideas on issues affecting graduate students, such as teaching, time management, research concerns, computer programs, choosing an advisor, and job-seeking. Tired of having people ask you how that dissertation is going? Check out PhinisheD, an on-line discussion and support group for people who can't seem to finish their dissertations and theses. Statistical Consulting Service from the statistics faculty of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is available to faculty, staff and graduate students of Oakland University. This service provides advice and guidance in statistical issues such as planning, conducting and analyzing research projects. Student clients are asked to come to the service with their academic advisor so that the service will not interfere with the academic progress of the students.
