Welcome to the Environmental Science Program
For over 30 years, environmental courses have been available at Oakland University, and our first graduates received their degrees 25 years ago. Although the topics and approaches have changed, our program philosophy and focus remains the same: a commitment to environmental improvement for all species.
Since these subjects are typically not part of any traditional academic programs in high school and college, many students don't discover the environmental health program until after they have initially chosen some other major. 95% of our graduates started in another major, and over 80% have substantial transfer credits from elsewhere. By contrast, almost all the students who select the environmental science program remain in the major during their college careers.
Many students considering a major in this field are unfamiliar with the career pathways and choices open to graduates. This website provides information about the major, the four specializations, the career possibilities, and introduces some of the faculty and courses that students in this major will meet.
