The Digital Video Committee worked during Spring 2005 to provide video solutions for faculty course use. The following possibilities mention the type of video services faculty may access and whether or not a charge is involved. Department and telephone number contacts are noted for questions and assistance.
Create your own video
a. Schedule a recording session in an interactive video (ITV) classroom containing all necessary video capture resources of the Level III classroom technology package. Contact the Registrar's Office to book an ITV classroom. CSITS will train you to run the system yourself or you can request support of a technical operator @ $25.00 per hour.
b. Borrow a VHS, DVD or MiniDV camera from CSITS, x2461. There is no charge for academic use of this resource. Faculty will need to purchase their own tapes/DVD disks, schedule use of a camera from CSITS, shoot the video, edit the video (if necessary), and the final step is to convert the video to a digital file that will work online with Moodle. Do-it-yourself digitizing stations are available and training will be provided. If additional editing is needed, see below.
c. Contract with CSITS, Video Services x2460 to produce a professional video. The standard service fee for video production services is $50.00 per hour and includes all necessary equipment for one staff person to do recording, editing, and any other post production work. Faculty are responsible for participating in the planning process and for script writing. The finished video will be digitized in the desired format.
