Importing Respondus files into Moodle

 

If you have Respondus quiz question files that you want to be able to import into Moodle, follow these directions:

 

  1. Open Respondus
  2. Change Personality to IMS QTI 1.1+ (IMS = Information Management Systems) (QTI = Question and Test Interoperability Specification)

 

 

  1. Click ‘Open a Respondus file’
  2. Choose your file and click ‘Open’

            (A box will appear stating that you will converting the file for use with a different CMS.  Click ‘Okay’)

  1. Make changes to the quiz if needed.  When you are done click ‘Preview and Publish’
  2. Click ‘Save QTI XML file’

            (File format must be ‘OTI XML zip file using IMS Content Packaging 1.1.3)

    

  1. Click ‘Save As’

            (Give your quiz file a name and save it to a location you will remember on your computer)

  1. Login to Moodle
  2. Cllick on ‘Quizzes’
  3.   Click on ‘Edit Questions’
  4.   Click on ‘Categories’
  5.   Under ‘Add Category’ choose a name for the questions you will be importing (i.e. Quiz 1)

 

    

  1.   Click ‘Add Category’
  2.   Click on ‘Import’
  3.   Under ‘File Format’, select ‘Respondus QTI format’

 

 

 

 

 

  1.   Under ‘General’ select the category you would like the questions to be imported to

 

 

  1.   Under ‘Import from file upload…’ click ‘Browse’ and locate the file on your computer
  2.   Click ‘Upload this file’
