The e-LIS main office is located on the fourth floor of Kresge library, directly opposite the elevators / stairs.

Staff Directory

Shaun Moore, Ph.D.
Director of e-Learning 
As the Director, Shaun oversees the day to day operations of the e-Learning Department, as well as sits on various university committees.

Dan Arnold, Ph.D.
Manager of Support Services

Dan manages the e-LIS Helpdesk, and oversees all email, phone, and walk-in requests from faculty, students, and staff. He directs and provides support for help requests and training in all e-learning software, including the learning management system, virtual conferencing software, and peripheral applications. Dan trains faculty on instructional design practices and how to use teaching technology software by running workshops and doing one-on-one appointments with faculty. He works with OU faculty to create learning objectives for online courses. He also assists in maintaining the e-LIS public help document library by creating and updating training material (documents and videos) for new products or new releases to software.

Nic Bongers
Instructional Graphic Designer

Nic works with the faculty members to help post course content into Moodle; so course development time could be much quicker and the instructor wouldn't have to re-conceptualize their course. He also designs visual elements for online classes including lesson modules and Moodle themes. Nic instructs and assists faculty workshops such as Moodle, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat. The Oakland University virtual island is managed by Nic in Second Life, as well as the scheduling of WebEx sessions.

John Coughlin
Senior Systems Analyst

John develops custom web applications and web site prototypes for administrative and academic units. He also assists in the management of the physical web environment and oversees the moodle development team.

Dorothy Farrior
Office Assistant

Dorothy supports the e-LIS staff, manages the main office as well as schedules Scantron appointments and Moodle help requests.

Eric A. Merrill
Learning Management Programmer

Eric develops web applications and web-based tools in PHP. He works with Shaun, John, and UTS to transition from WebCT to Moodle, and to integrate Moodle with Banner. Eric also maintains backups and archives of Moodle, along with providing technical support.

Matthew G. Switlik
Learning Management Programmer
Matthew develops web applications optimized for both desktop and mobile platforms. With a strong background in PHP, Javascript, and various databases Matt is able to create fast web applications that focus on good user experience across many devices. Matt also works reporting bugs and writing fixes for Moodle.

Diane Underwood
Coordinator for Activities and Programs

Diane manages the department's online presence including social media platforms and websites. She also supports faculty and staff with online program development. Diane oversees all aspects of e-LIS sponsored conferences, workshops and seminars. She is also reponsible for maintaining institutional compliance with state, federal and international regulations relating to the delivery of online education.
