Web Site Prototyping and Support

Official OU Web Sites: Schools, divisions, units, and faculty and staff members interested in creating or updating Web sites for their organization can get help in a variety of ways – typically in a partnership through e-LIS and University Communications and Marketing (UC&M).

If you’re interested in developing an official OU site for your school, college, department or division, please contact the e-LIS/UC&M development team. e-LIS and UC&M will work together to find the best way to develop a site that meets your needs. Sites that have emerged from this development process include:

For a Web site project, we’ll meet with you initially to create a site outline and structure based on your graphical and contextual requirements. Then, we’ll work with you to activate it and help you maintain it.

Personal Web Sites: The Web development staff in e-LIS provides basic support for personal Web sites for staff, faculty and students. Support documentation for most personal Web space issues can be found on our help documents page. We are also willing to provide personal consultation should you need it. Note, however, that we do not provide design services for personal sites (with the exception of some sites showcasing faculty research). We also do not support advanced technology applications like database integration, PHP, CGI, etc; if you choose to use these in your site, you will be solely responsible for creating and debugging your code.

Students Organizations
If you have questions about a student organization site located on www.oakland.edu, please contact the UTS helpdesk at helpdesk@oakland.edu or (248) 370-4357. If you have questions about a student organization site located on any other server (www2.oakland.edu, www3.oakland.edu, etc), please contact the e-LIS web development team.

If you are a interested in setting up a web site for a student organization that doesn't already have one, please contact the Center for Student Activities. They will initiate the process for securing web-space for your organization.

Note that if you are willing to work within the constraints of a content management system and an OU approved graphical template, we may also be able to offer you some level of design service. Please contact the e-LIS Web development team if you are interested in exploring this option.
