You will login to Moodle with your Oakland email and email password.
Step 1:
Browser Compatibility
You will need to make sure you have a compatible browser for optimal performance with Moodle. Internet Explorer will work with PCs for the most part. The recommended browser, Firefox, is a free download from mozilla.com Use Firefox, especially, if you are on a Macintosh.

Step 2:
Acquire your OU email account.
If you have been using your OU email, you are all set for logging into Moodle.

You may need to acquire your OU e-mail or reset your password:

  • Go to https://ouca.oakland.edu
  • click on Obtain Your Account or Reset Your Password
  • Fill out the requested information (remember...capital G for the Grizzly ID).
This will tell you what your OU email address is and reset your password on that account to the specified value.

**Your ID and PIN are case sensitive. The (G) in your new ID must be typed in upper case.**

Step 3:
Logging into Moodle

  • Go to the following link: http://moodle.oakland.edu
  • Enter the first part of your oakland email and password (e.g. if your email is clark@oakland.edu, your login ID would be clark.) Follow the instructions above.

You will see all the courses you are registered for listed on your MyMoodle screen.

HOW DO I GET MY GID IF I CAN'T LOGIN TO OU E-MAIL?
If you can't get into your OU e-mail account, there is an alternate way of obtaining your GID. This process assumes that you have used SAIL sometime in the past. If you haven't (probably because you are a brand new student), these instructions won't help you in which case you should jump to the section on how to get your GID in person.
OBTAINING YOUR GID THROUGH SAIL USING YOUR OLD ID (Student Number)
  • Visit https://sail.oakland.edu
  • Click on login to secure area
  • Login with your OLD pre-GID user id and pin.
  • Once logged in, click on student services and financial aid
  • Click on registration
  • Click on select term
  • Your GID should appear in the upper right corner next to your name.
Note capital G....wherever you are asked to input GID from now on, you should make sure you use a capital G, not a lowercase g.
OBTAINING YOUR GID IN PERSON
If you aren't able to use this process to get your GID, you'll have to visit a student service office (like registrar) with a picture ID and they will be able to provide the GID to you. Exceptions: if you are faculty, you should visit the Office of Academic Affairs, and if you are staff you should visit UHR.
ACTIVATING YOUR OU E-MAIL
Once you have your GID, you can then activate your OU e-mail like this
  • https://ouca.oakland.edu
  • click on obtain your account or reset your password
  • Fill out the requested information (remember...capital G).
This will tell you what your OU email address is and reset your password on that account to the specified value.
CHECKING YOUR OU E-MAIL
Finally, to check your OU email now that you have obtained your account name and password, do this:
  • Login with your ouemail name (minus the @oakland.edu part, so for user John Doe, it would be something like jdoe, not jdoe@oakland.edu) and the password you specified.
  • You should see your email messages appear.
