The Language Lab provides the following services and programs for language students. TAPE LISTENING: During open hours students may listen to audio cassettes. TAPE COPYING: The Language Lab will make copies of the tapes that accompany students texts. Sudents must first pay for the tapes and the recording in the Modern Language Office (418 Wilson) and then bring the voucher to the lab where a student assistant will do the actual copying. VIDEO: The lab maintains video tape collections in French, German, Spanish, japanese, Russian,Italian and Arabic. Students can come in during lab hours and request a video or make a reservation ahead of time. LANGUAGE PLACEMENT TESTING: Students may take computerized proficiency tests in French, German, and Spanish at the language lab. Proficiency tests for Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic can be arranged in 418 Wilson Hall. REFERENCE MATERIALS: Dictionaries in French, German, Spanish, grammar reference books, and some tapescripts are available for students to use in the lab. COMPUTER SOFTWARE: Students may sign up to use any of the many programs that are available for their use in the lab. Programs on both PC and Mac format include word processing, grammar and drill for specific languages, interactive computer - laser disk programs, CD-ROM language games and learning programs.
